For this week’s assignment, I created a 3-level game playing on the idea of love being a complicated maze to navigate!

The first level is the first date. On a poker table ((representing the games we often play in early dating), the player must carefully navigate the lines of the data  without falling off, collecting  hearts . It’s a fairly easy level but not the most exciting one, to match how early dating is low-risk but also often low-reward. You pass to the next level by hitting the bed!

At the second level, the player navigates a more complicated landscape where they must collect green flags (indicators that the person you’re dating is a good person and a good match for you) and avoid the red flags. Come too close to the red flags, and these will start attacking the player. If they manage to catch you, the red flags kill you and you must restart the level.

The final level requires the player to jump up a tall ladder of different platforms (use the space bar!) - this path represents the growth and the effort one must go through to establish a solid relationship. The walls are misleading: hit against them and you will fall off rather than be kept on the platform. When you arrive at the top of the platform, you’re asked to take a “leap of faith” off the platform to fall only a heart in order to win the game. However, up until now falling off the platforms has meant failing the level. Following the metaphor of taking a trust fall when you choose to date someone, do you trust the game and jump? Or are you being deceived?

The game ends with the player bobbing up and down on a beating heart. Success! You found love!
